OHHA FB Group - OH Park Bridge - Post "pending"

Original Post "Pending OHHA FB admin approval" as at 9:45PM 07.20.2022 As with the Credit River Bridge, it would have been helpful for the OHHA also, to host community meetings (real or virtual) with members of the City of Mississauga Cycling Committee, together with the technical staff responsible for producing the approved 2018 Cycling Master Plan in attendance, to present the OH Park Bridge funded and slated for construction in November 2019, and to address any concerns OH residents may have in relation to the project, PRIOR to conducting the 2021 “Survey” in which 19% of respondents were “unaware” of the bridge and 11% were “unsure” whether or not they “support” the project. Mississauga Cycling Master Plan Report Card - 2021

Image
Nice, but disappointing, to see the recycled annual report cards illustrating the incremental, snail's-paced improvements made to Mississauga's much researched, planned and promoted Active Transportation infrastructure. FOR EXAMPLE ... What's with the inordinate delay in building the Orchard Heights Park foot/bike bridge connection to the Etobicoke Creek Trail finally approved and funded in 2018 and scheduled for construction in November, 2019 ???    Click for more information

Etobicoke Creek Watershed

Image
Etobicoke Creek Watershed Etobicoke Creek is home to 286, 361 people and is about 59 km long, draining an area of 211 km 2  (through the cities of Brampton, Mississauga and the City of Toronto, and the Town of Caledon.  Land use in the watershed has been dramatically altered over the past 200 years and rapid changes have continued in recent decades. The Etobicoke Creek watershed currently consists of three major land uses, including: 27% rural, 68% urban, and 5% urbanizing. The watershed is home to 503 species of plants and animals. The vast majority of the natural cover is located within river valleys or stream corridors and represents approximately 13.8% of the watershed.  Although habitat may not be continuous in some areas, the habitat patches help to provide a stepping stone effect allowing species to move north and south. These valley corridors play an important role in facilitating both resident and migrant species movement.
